Caption: Taking advantage of an unexpected flight delay due to a more expected strike of french pilots I ended up paddling on a Laguna between Congo and Cabinda (Angola). After a few kilometers in the mangrove without meeting anybody I suddenly met François in his wooden canoe. Naturally we started speaking and he explained me his day. Waking up before sunrise, taking the canoe across the Laguna to reach an access to the Atlantic Ocean, set sail with a slightly bigger craft to catch some fishes for the family, going back before noon to collect some dry wood for the women to cook in the village and make some small money for the kid's study...just a normal day for him.

The villagers tend to fish at night more and more because of fish rundown during the day since major business organized by expatriates. The other option is to sail away which is quite dangerous with small non motorized wooden craft.
