Caption: Foz Velha, or "Old Foz" was once a village on a hillside above the mouth of the Douro river, near Porto, Portugal. In the 19th century, it was incorporated into Foz do Douro, and is now part of the city.
From the Aquaduct of Montebelo, tiny cobbled streets amble down to the river, past traditional Portuguese fishermen's houses jostling for space with modern construction.
A sunny-day stroll through Foz Velha is time travel without tour buses or clamor, just a few seagulls for company.
