Caption: This April I visited Japan with Flight Centre Australia to capture the cherry blossom season.
With the help of my travel agent I also included a side trip to the Zao Fox Village which turned out to be the best idea EVER!
I caught the bullet train to Shiroishi and this happened ...

Caption: Zao Fox Village It's easy to jump a taxi from the train station but you won't find many people speaking English out here. The Fox Village uses photos and signs to give you instructions when you arrive.

Caption: The foxes There are hundreds of foxes of different species in a large fenced area with lots to keep them busy, places to sleep and cuddle, places to play and dig and places to say hello to visitors.

Caption: Photography From certain perspectives it even looks like the foxes might be wild, although I always disclose in my images that they're not. I primarily used a 70-200mm lens at 200mm. Settings ranged from f2.8 to f5.6 at ISO 400 mostly and I tried to keep my shutter speed above 1/500.

Caption: Composition I knew it's not every day you get to photograph a fox village so I made the most of it with various different compositions; close and far, wide and zoomed, sleeping and alert.

Caption: Personalities With any animal photography I always attempt to capture different personalities. I think this guy was a distinguished gentleman and I loved the soulful look in his eyes.

Caption: Feeding area There's also a feeding area that some of the foxes like to chill out at which is a great opportunity to get some looking up shots!

Caption: Without clients like Flight Centre Australia there are parts of the world that my work wouldn't take me.
Traveling with the help and support of a company like Flight Centre makes it easier to make experiences like this a reality.
A good travel agent can let you know a lot about logistics of "bucket list" places like the Zao Fox Village.
