Caption: It feels strange to be looking back to week forty one (in early October) on the first week of January, as we enter another lockdown here in Scotland. Even as I work through the remainder of these #shotsoftheweek stories from 2020, I realise that we’ll be staying very local in the coming weeks. But, we can do this. We know how to do this now.
So week forty one was a week of big skies, of autumnal days and nights with that familiar chill creeping into the air, and it was the week when I finally got to meet @jordanfoy and @rachelhelsby.

Caption: I don’t normally share b+w in these ‘shots of the week’ stories, but this set of photos from the ash lagoons looked too bright in colour. Just too blue. I wanted to focus instead on the clouds and the textures.

Caption: As I’ve mentioned here before, I wanted to share the ‘ugliness’ of the lagoons as well as the scenic spots. And that ugliness looks a little less so when you factor in some gentle, glowy late afternoon light.

Caption: And then there was this, a meeting that we’d talked about for ages and which finally happened on the Sunday of this week. @jordanfoy and @rachelhelsby were spending a few days in Scotland and when we were discussing where to walk together, I knew it had to be here, around St Baldred’s Cradle to Ravensheugh Sands. This location is a dream for photos with all the long views and big dramatic skies that you could hope for. In a year of so few meet-ups and face-to-face conversations, I’m just so glad that this one happened. And that it felt so effortless, not like a first meeting IRL but instead just catching up with old friends.
