Tollymore Forest Park
Caption: Tollymore Forest Park was the first state forest park in Northern Ireland and covers an area of 630 hectares (1600 acres).
The Shimna River which starts in the nearby Mourne Mountains flows through the forest on its way to the Irish Sea.
The park is also filled a number of intriguing garden follies. Tollymore Forest Park

Tollymore Forest Park
Caption: The Hermitage The Hermitage, as it's known, is a small stone shelter built into the side of a gorge on the Shimna River.
It was built in 1770s and was originally used for ladies to shelter from the weather while the men fished for salmon in the river down below.

Caption: Bridges The Shimna River is crossed by 16 bridges as it journeys it's way through the forest park.
The earliest of these bridges, The Old Bridge, was built by James Hamilton and dates back to 1726.
The most famous bridge in the park, however, is now Altavaddy Bridge.
This is because it was where the Direwolves were found in Game of Thrones.
