Caption: After two weeks exploring Europe I was eager to return to Montana to document the last bit of fall in Northwestern Montana.
I made Whitefish my basecamp as I set off to capture what we refer to as “Larch Madness”. The Tamarack tree, or larch, is a coniferous tree that turns a brilliant yellow color in the late fall before dropping its needles in preparation for winter.

Caption: Every spring and fall, Glacier National Park’s famous Going to the Sun Road closes to vehicle traffic, leaving the road open only to bike and foot traffic.

Caption: I finished my trip where it started, in Whitefish. I had a new mountain bike that was begging to hit the Whitefish Trail through the larch trees.
