— A series of images styled and photographed for the launch issue of The Planthunter, an online magazine devoted to celebrating plants and the varied ways humans interact with them. The theme for the inaugural issue was death.
The process begins with each specimen's original floral form being documented. Then the blooms are partially submerged in liquid nitrogen and smashed against the hard surface of a table, creating the dramatic shattered porcelain shapes. The random cryo-frozen pieces are then photographed where they fall before they begin to thaw and rapidly degrade.
The death throes of each flower is captured and preserved in all it's violent beauty.
