Picture of Dubrovnik
Caption: Dubrovnik A tiny city by the coast in the South of Croatia. Protected by UNESCO, it's medieval look gives the perfect setting as a filming location for Game of Thrones!

Caption: Dubrovnik is surrounded by the Old City Walls built to protect it. Now, visitors can walk along the entire wall to soak in the views

Picture of Stradun Dubrovnik
Caption: Stradun is the main street in Dubrovnik taking you from the main gate to the other side of the small city. In the summer it is filled with tourists which make it look like a ⬇️ toy town from the Old City Walls

Picture of Mount Srđ
Caption: I took a cable car up to Mount Strd to get away from the city crowds and for a different view.

Dubrovnik
Caption: Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra I happened to be in Dubrovnik during the Late Summer Music Festival. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra were due to play their penultimate show in the historic Rector's Palace on my last night in the city.
No longer a wealthy banker 😉, I considered the prices to a tourist office assistant who gave me a quiet tip. Standing tickets were available for 50KN (~£5) and allowed me access to the first floor balcony. So, whilst the audience fanned their programs in their faces to find ⬇️ comfort in the heat, I had a bird's eye view and the sounds were magical as they floated up to me and into the night sky through the open air venue.

Split
Caption: Split "'We've arrived' Leo announced. 'Time to Split'
Frank groaned. 'Can we leave Valdez in Croatia?'" (The House of Hades)
I love that line and I love Leo 💕
You may mock, but reading the Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus series has taught me loads about Greek and Roman mythology. So not only do I understand the stories of the Gods as I visit each temple, each site, I also love the fact that the characters and I are travelling the same route. It takes visualising ⬇️ the scenes to another level! If only I had access to the Argo II.... 📖

Saint Domnius Cathedral
Caption: Cathedral of St Domnius The bell tower of the Cathedral of St Domnius is 60 meters tall within the Diocletian's Palace. Visitors climb the stairs to the top of the tower for a wonderful view of the city. Always up for a challenge for a good view, I saw an opportunity. People watched and murmured (in dismay probably) as I climbed, unharnessed, to the edge of a ledge on the top floor of the bell tower. The view was wonderful ☺️

Picture of Trajektna Luka Split
Caption: Safely back down to earth and relaxing by the port. I could easily sit here every day watching the blue sea and the orange sunsets.
Picture of Trajektna Luka Split
Caption: The harbour of Split is beautiful, especially during sunset. Everyone loves to capture the sunset in their photos but I enjoyed this scene, watching this photographer ⬇️ doing exactly that.

Caption: Hvar Island Hvar Island is known for its parties, five star hotels and luxury beach clubs. The island is the sunniest in Croatia with over an average 2715 hours of sunlight per year (to compare, London has 1460 hours on average!). And yet, as visitors mill around licking their ice cream ⬇️ cones and pose for photos, a small group of local Croatian kids sit in the shade of St Stephen's Cathedral without a care for tan lines or appearances, only which game they should play next.

Picture of Fortress Klis
Caption: Upon recommendation, I hiked up the hill to visit the Fortress of Split to see the city, the view and the beginning of another beautiful sunset.
Picture of Fortress Klis
Caption: Another dangerous seat on the edge of the wall on the highest point of the fortress. Once over the scare of heights, it was peaceful watching the boats below....until other visitors ⬇️ started doing the same and climbing up to sit next to me! Go away! This was my idea!

Caption: And then, I ended up chatting another lovely traveller who took this photo for me as we gossiped until the sunset 🌅

Caption: Life decided to throw another wobbly at me during this trip, so I had to return to England again. So, for my last day in Croatia, I decided to spend it on the beach, ⬇️ watching another beautiful sunset...naturally!
