Phestos Palace.
Caption: Phestos (or Festos) was a Minoan City on Crete, the ruins of which are located 55 km south of Heraklion. The city was already inhabited since 6000BC and prospered concurrently with the city of Knossos, till the 1st century BC. The Palace of Phestos was built in about 2000BC, according to the legend, by Minos.
The Palace's King was the brother of Minos, Rhadamanthys, the second son of Zeus and Europe and was known for his righteousnes.

Caption: Knossos was the most important city on Crete before the Roman Era and the center of the first brilliant European civilization, the Minoan. The Palace is located just 5 km south of Heraklion. Knossos was a town with more than 100.000 people.
The Palace was the seat of the legendary King Minos and has been associated with famous Greek myths, like that of Daedalus and Icarus, the Labyrinth and the Minotaur.
The earliest traces of habitation date back to the Neolitic Period (7th-4th millennium BC).
