Caption: Clear Blue Waters There is no place in the world like Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. At 1,943 feet, it is the deepest lake in the U.S., and the waters are fed only by precipitation and snowmelt -- making it extremely clear and blue. Photo by National Park Service.
Caption: During the winter, blue and white predominate the landscape at Crater Lake. The average snowfall at the park is 44 feet every year, making it perfect for snowshoeing. And while it might be quite the trek in the snow to the rim of the lake, it is definitely worth it. There are some spectacular views to be had. Photos on the next page by National Park Service.

Caption: Summer Beauty For a brief time each year, Crater Lake emerges from winter hibernation to bask in summertime glory. During this brief summertime window, one magnificent day typically follows another. Explore old-growth forests or wildflower meadows. Climb mountains for great views of the lake or hike to the lake itself. Whether just hiking down the Cleetwood Trail for a swim or joining a boat tour of the volcano, visiting the shore of Crater Lake is a unique experience. Photo by National Park Service.
