Her signature white organic shapes are masterfully finished in the iconic Heydar Aliyev Center.
It was finished in 2012 and hosts exhibitions and events in the boom town at the Caspian Sea.

Caption: It's definitely great to see what architects can accomplish when they work under conditions that liberate them (meaning there must have been very little control and a lot of money for this project by the Azerbaijani government).

Caption: Zaha Hadid won the "Design of the Year" price by the London Design Museum for this project (as the first woman to do so) and it's a well deserved price - although she received a lot of criticism for working with the government of Azerbaijan.

Caption: It's a complicated matter to discuss, but I believe art and politics should mix as little as possible - very much like religion and state should stay separate.
They are allowed to critique each other, collaborate, but never be mixed in a way that they control or disturb each other.
