Caption: _______ CLIFFS OF MOHER AND GALWAY Ireland, Part iii
Caption: The morning was soggy and extremely dark from the rainclouds. Although this is what was expected for this particular time of year on the emerald isle, disappointment still lingered in thought.

Caption: After about two hours, however, the ominous clouds vanished and the sun shone brightly.

Caption: As the sun's rays danced with the breeze across the verdant farmlands, God quieted my heart and gave an opportunity to respond to His grace.

Caption: Caught up in this divine grace, we arrived at the Cliff of Moher in Co. Claire in what seemed to be a blink of an eye. Stepping out of the vehicle, we proceeded to walk toward the cliffs and stopped just close enough to see over the edge.

Caption: The height was heart rattling and the drop was severe. With an extreme seven-hundred feet of space between the surface of the Atlantic and the top edge of the cliff, falling would have been fatal. Situations like this cause a person to grasp their fragility. In humbleness, we paused to contemplate our own vulnerability. Not only were these monstrous cliffs deadly, but they were also mesmerizing.

Caption: Captivated, Joshua and I hiked a trail, less trodden by tourists, to a lower section of the cliffs. At this point, we were able to look up and across and behold the rock falls for miles.

Caption: After the time in Co. Claire, we continued the day’s road trip by heading toward Co. Galway and Clifden. As the sun was setting, glimpses of the Twelve Pins started to appear in the distance. Approaching the mountains, it was obvious to see their magnitude. However, their full grandeur was veiled by silver, smoky clouds; the clouds seemed to have been trapped in the small valleys in between each Pin. The way that the shadows draped into the mountain crevices caused complete darkness to inhabit each valley. From the outside looking in, the scene was almost frightening, but it was also completely enrapturing.

Caption: With no previous planning and without even realizing the insane beauty waiting on the route, we made the decision to drive through Connemara National Park and then north. When thinking of lush green, rolling mountains most often, if not always, Scotland comes to mind. However, this same gorgeousness is also Ireland’s secret emerald treasure and Co. Galway is where X marks the spot. Every hue of the mossy mountainous landscape is a dazzling green that ranges from yellow-green to blue green to the deepest forest green. When mixed with beams of golden sunlight, the glittering verdancy around every bend literally shimmers.

Caption: Driving the winding road, we beheld thick, water-filled, hovering clouds rise and fall as they blanketed every spring creviced mountain. In some areas pockets of rain were visibly pouring and in other areas the sun pierced through the veil of darkness and painted countless rainbows throughout the seemingly touchable sky.
