Caption: On 01/13/15 I met Charles for the first time. Orphaned after his mother was killed by poachers he now spends his days as an ambassador for the Uganda Wildlife Education Center. As part of a media campaign to promote sustainable tourism, wildlife conservation & education, he & I decided to have a little photo shoot. Caption: Each year thousands of elephants are illegally killed, leaving hundreds of baby elephants like Charles without a mother. International demand for ivory products fuels these alarming poaching rates & threatens the existence of this magnificent animal.
Special thanks to the Uganda Wildlife Education Center for helping make this project possible & for giving elephants like my new friend Charles hope.
