Caption: CHÂTEAU DE VERSAILLES One day at the golden palace
Caption: It was too bright today and I cannot just hide in my room. Sitting on a bench really seemed to be a good idea.
So I went to visit Versailles, about 20 km from Paris (and 40 km from my place). It’s very far indeed but the views are very worth the distance.

Caption: The classic palatial design of the whole palace is really typical of Baroque.
The palace was first designed by Philibert Le Roy at the time of King Louis XIII, still not quite sparkly as now, more into natural stony colors and had only 3 wings.

Caption: Years later, it was built again at the request of Louis XIV. The entire architecture of the palace is held by famous architect Louis Le Vau who also designed the Louvre with Claude Perrault. While the interior was designed by Charles Le Brun, and the park was held by Andre Le Notre.

Caption: The paintings & carvings are made by Le Brun and Petite Académie. Petite Académie is a group of painters & sculptors which at that time supervised by Lebrun. Louis XIV used to said Le Brun was "The greatest painter of all time."

Caption: This room is called Galerie des Glaces or Halls of Mirrors, it contains all the windows that lead directly to the park view. Used to be the ballroom for dance parties held at the palace, this room is said to be the most famous room at the Château de Versailles.

Caption: This called Salon de la Paix or The Peace Room, which the legendary French last queen, Marie-Antoinette, made as a playing room.

Caption: People said this palace is a golden palace, besides its famous golden gate, also because gold almost dominates the entire palace.

Caption: There are a total of 700 rooms in total which certainly cannot be visited at once, but I am quite happy with what I got today.
