Caption: Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary. It was founded in 1873 by the merge of Buda, Pest and Óbuda. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Mátyás Templom
Caption: The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Budavár was founded in 1255. It has suffered extensive destruction over the centuries, but still has parts of its original structure. This church was even transformed into a mosque by the Turks in 1541 during the Ottoman occupation. Its current neo-Gothic appearance was completed between 1873 and 1896. Inside, the nave is covered with pretty polychrome frescoes.

Caption: The Fisherman’s Bastion is a promenade that offers a splendid panorama over the city and the Danube river. It was built in 1895 on the site of a former fish market.

Caption: The Hungarian Parliament is the largest public building in Hungary. It was built from 1885 to 1902 for the purpose of expressing the sovereignty of the nation. Its symmetrical facade is of neo-Gothic style and inspired by the Palace of Westminster in London. The huge building has 10 interior courtyards and 691 rooms.

Caption: St. Stephen’s Basilica was built in the neoclassical style. It has a Greek-cross shaped plan and its neo-Renaissance dome is 96 meters high. It is possible to get to the top to enjoy a panorama of the neighborhood.
