Caption: Asian elephants, including Borneo Pygmy Elephants, are the largest herbivores on the planet. They eat about 150 kg of plants everyday. They like grasses, Palm leaves and bananas.
Picture
Caption: Due to their large size they don't have a lot of predators. Besides humans, tigers are their only real predators but even then they only go for the smaller calves.

Caption: Where? The Borneo Pygmy Elephant can be found on the northern and northeastern parts of the island of Borneo, located in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Caption: The elephants live in tropical and subtropical climates.

Caption: HABITAT LOSS:
The primary threat to these elephants is the loss of continuous forests. The large blocks of forests they require are fragmented by encroachment and conversion of natural forests to commercial plantations.

Caption: Borneo Pygmy Elephants live in forests, which is why it's important to reduce the amount of deforestation and protect their habitat.

Caption: There are only 1,500 Borneo elephants left. The Borneo Elephants rely on their habitat to survive. In 2005, WWF successfully attached satellite collars to five pygmy elephants in different herds in the Malaysian state of Sabah. Tracking data has provided insight into the movement of these elephants and their use of the forests. Based on the study, WWF has made recommendations to help manage elephant forests, identify elephant corridors and maintain critical forest areas.
