Caption: Last year I entered a contest from @CREST_Travel and @Steller to win a trip for two to visit Bodhi Surf and Yoga Retreat in Uvita, Costa Rica.
Next thing I know I’m on a plane to a place that would challenge me physically and mentally.

There are also a number of communal spaces to enjoy during our time.

Caption: SURF TIME Every day but one we would head out to try our luck at catching some waves inside Costa Rica’s first marine national park, Playa Colonia. But this is where Bodhi was different than any other surf instruction I've ever had...

Caption: Instead of teaching us simply how to stand and then sending us out to fend for ourselves, Travis (Bodhi co-founder) spent an amazing amount of time teaching us the ins and outs of reading waves, the type of surf breaks, tides, and surf etiquette. The goal is to give us the tools so we can surf on our own after a week at Bodhi.

Caption: Take it from me, this week pushed me to succeed while simultaneously being incredibly patient. As a former D1 Offensive Lineman, surfing is not a sport for big folk... but even I caught a few waves!
