Caption: We never planned to visit the Badlands on this trip.
But a winter storm cut off our path through the Rockies.
With heavy snow on the way, we pulled up a weather map to see if there was anywhere we could ride out the storm.
And to our surprise, it was 72 F and sunny in the Dakotas.
