Caption: Saying that Greece was struck hard by the financial and economical crisis is an euphemism. Greek people have faced several critical moments; both growth and moral are still low. Even Athens hasn’t been left untouched, in spite of all its glorious history. The capital is strange, with popular zones filling the city centre in between monuments, museums and the Plaka (the old and rather touristy city centre) while upper class residential areas are in the suburbs.

Caption: In this album, I wanted to put together snaps of off-the-track walks portraying everyday life in Athens with more classical photos from antiquities and temples. The purpose is to show the reality of Athenians, which more often that not gets obscured by the beauty of the city’s attractions, being stepped on by the millions of tourists that every year flood the city.

The historic city centre allows to imagine the aspect of the capital before the construction of popular neighbourhoods, although it’s quite a tourist-trap.
