Caption: AN UNEXPECTED TRIP This past Spring I took a spur of the moment trip to the Sonoran Desert in the wild and dramatic state of Arizona. Dear friends of mine are building a dream home in the desert so we made a trip out to check on the construction. It's a place full of beauty and wonder. I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed being there.

Caption: ALL THE BIG AND LITTLE CREATURES. Life abounds in the desert. The flyers, the crawlers, the howlers, the hoppers and the biters...just about everything you can imagine, and most of them could be seen right from our back porch.

Caption: THE COYOTE Every evening while falling asleep to the desert sounds you can hear the coyotes howling VERY near by, and I think of the little bunnies I saw hopping around all afternoon. No late night walks for me, needless to say.
Early one morning this guy just casually walks by while I'm sitting on the porch, and I ask him "what did YOU do last night".

Caption: PROTECTIVE If you look close you'll see the adult Great Horned Owl in the tree. She's vigilantly keeping watch over her young owl stashed in a Saguaro cactus near us. Moments after I snapped this photo she swooped in I little closer, no doubt to keep a closer eye on us intruders.
