Caption: The Alaskan Tundra Wolf
(canis lupus tundrarum) also known as the Barren-ground Wolf, is a subspecies of the gray wolf native to the barren grounds of the Arctic Coastal tundra region from near Point Barrow eastward toward Hudson Bay. It was named 1912 by Gerrit Smith Miller, who noted that it closely resembling c.l. pambasileus, It is a large, white-colored wolf lighter in color though they also come in darker coats including black. Their hair is long though not as long as the Tundra Wolf. They have a heavier dentition than the Interior Alaskan Wolf.
