Caption: This was one of those winter days when it was just cold and grey and damp, but I was tired of being cooped up inside. I was tired of being at my desk. Harris and Bracken weren’t budging, so I went out solo. The walks I share here tend to be about the places where I really enjoy walking - down the coast, with woodland and beach walks and great views. The places I look forward to all week and am always keen to share. But here? This walk was about getting outside for an hour and clearing my head.

Caption: And on this day, it felt raw and freezing in the wind. As it was low tide, I walked out to find a different perspective, gulls swooping above me, just so many birds along the shoreline. This stretch of beach can photograph so well when the sky is feeling dramatic - I’ve shared this location here many times - but what of these days when it’s simply grey?

Caption: Yet I’m drawn to this palette. The gentle blues and greys, and these warm brown tones. There’s a quiet beauty there if you look for it - even though you have to look quite hard on days like this! There’s something about finding beauty in the everyday. When the sky isn’t giving you the drama you’d like. When the light isn’t uplifting your mind. When you’re just walking and taking photos, because this is what elevates your mood on these midwinter days.
