Porto is a real joy for the eyes, a city able to conquer from the first moment, thanks to its ups and downs, its decadent houses but with a magical atmosphere and above all thanks to the Ribeira district, from which you can admire a crazy panorama the boats passing under the Dom Luis I Bridge, an iron construction built by a close collaborator of Gustave Eiffel.

Ribeira

The Ribeira is the most picturesque district of Porto, and at the same time the most visited by tourists. It lies on the banks of the river Douro, and is a succession of steep streets, houses decorated with typical azulejos and, in the most tourist area, restaurants that serve the gastronomic specialties of the area.

The cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia

Along the Avenida de Diogo Leite, located on the opposite bank of the river Douro, administratively already part of the town of Vila Nova de Gaia, opens a paradise for wine lovers: here are in fact the cellars of all the producers of the famous Port wine, exported all over the world.

Do not miss a visit to at least one of the ancient Port wine cellars. Whatever you choose, you will witness the aging process of wine, with careful explanations and tastings.

Sandeman: perhaps it is the most well-known brand of Porto thanks to its unmistakable logo and the cellar premises are more than 200 years old.
