The Grand Canyon. I arrived before dawn, the canyon looked more like the sea. It was dark, no shapes or colors yet, the sun slowly began to rise and the sky took form first.

Caption: So thrilling to see the sun hitting the walls of the canyon. The Colorado river formed The Canyon 5 to 6 million years ago. The waters carved crevasses up to 6,093 feet deep, over a mile. And yes, those people are sitting ON THE EDGE ! 😝

I love the people watching, the selfies, the funny smiles, and the primping.

Caption: This is the Tovar Hotel, it was built in 1903. These ladies just hiked up from the bottom of the Canyon. They are waiting for hot showers and a great meal. There are 6 hotels in the Canyon. The Phantom lodge is in the base of the Canyon!
Caption: The light begins to change, you can see all the details, the layers and layers of rock that the waters have carved. A view of time.
The Canyon is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. I am on the South Rim of The Canyon.

Caption: I'm really looking forward to a return trip. You can hike or take donkeys down The Canyon and camp or stay at Phantom ranch. I stayed in Williams, Arizona which was about an hour away, and on Route 66. It's a fraction of the cost. It was a great little town, and you can even stay there and take a train to the park.
