Caption: Summers are all about feeling carefree for me, so I’m all about simple, simple, simple when it comes to my closet and beauty routine.
This does not, however, mean that I want to show up anywhere with less style. So, I’ve developed a bit of a “uniform” routine that keeps me stylish while still allowing me to feel completely effortless. These items all allow me to dress up or dress down at a moment’s notice (or in the car on the way from one event to another- we’ve all had those summer days, yes?)
Here’s the lowdown on a few of the pieces and why they’ve made it onto my go-to list.

Caption: In the summertime, the less makeup the better I say. I have super finicky skin and have become a Tarte devotee. This moisturizer is the perfect light coverage + has a bit of shimmer (but not too much.)
And I use the stain on my lips and cheeks for just a hint of color. If I’m going to the pool or beach- that’s it. Otherwise, I’ll layer in some mascara and call it done.

Caption: You can never have enough tanks. They go with everything and you can wear them everywhere. Dress them up or down based on what you’re wearing them with. I’ve come to learn that a good white tee and tank is the epitome of chic.

that’s all I’ll say.

Caption: I pretty much live in these. Chambray is my preferred choice. Easy and breezy, put some flip flops, sneaks or flats on with them and you’re ready for the day. Swap out for some wedges or heels, and those dainty necklaces and you’re ready for the night.

Caption: Scarves are an absolute must in California because the nights get chilly sometimes.
I always have one in my bag in case I unexpectedly find myself out after dark.
Use them as beach coverups, and impromptu head/hair wraps too.

Caption: I opt mostly for the flat shoes in summer because I generally find myself out from morning until night.
My favorites are stylish white canvas sneakers or slip-ons and simple strappy sandals.

Picture
Caption: This is my newest favorite thing. I picked up a zippered bag recently that my iPad fits into perfectly.
I never travel without it now, because when it’s not holding my iPad, it becomes a super chic clutch for a night out.
During the day, I slip it into my bigger bag.

Picture
Caption: Since the rest of my summertime wardrobe sticks to the basics, I like to have a little fun with patterns on my shorts and bikinis.
Again, super easy to dress up or down with shoes and jewelry.

Caption: Let's face it: the last thing you want to worry about when trying to feel effortless is a bad hair day.
Enter a stylish cap.
Done & done.
