There are different means to different ends but a sure way to clear the mind, stir the soul and expand the lungs is to get up at dawn and go for a hike in the dunes maintained by the Amsterdam Water Company.
A natural filter for rain water amassing in this vast natural reserve west of the Dutch capital, these wild dunes are also host to a stunning variety of plants and creatures.
Forgetting about lockdowns, if only for a few hours, is best done here. There’s often not a single soul in sight - social distancing is a given.
