Kayaking Owl Creek in Virginia Beach 🛶🌾 There’s something about gliding out onto Owl Creek on a misty morning that makes you feel like you’ve slipped back in time. The air was soft and just slightly damp, the sky hung low and silver, and the marsh grass glowed gold along the banks. Paddling out, I honestly felt like an early colonist arriving on these shores for the first time, seeing this coastline the way it must have looked centuries ago. 🌫️ Fun fact: some of the very first English settlers came ashore right here in Virginia Beach at Cape Henry in 1607, 13 years before the Mayflower. So yes, this place really does carry a touch of history. 🏴☠️📜 And the scenery is incredible. Quiet water, tall marsh grasses swaying in the breeze, birds flitting along the rocky edges and that peaceful hush you only get on the water. Best part? It’s SO easy. The Barry D. Knight Owl Creek launch has QR codes right there, so you just scan, check out a kayak and go. No lines, no hassle. Grab a paddle and a life vest, push off the dock and you’re on the water in minutes. 📱➡️🛶 Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a total beginner, this is one of the most relaxing ways to see the wild side of Virginia Beach. I’ll definitely be back. 💚
