Did you know there's a state park in Virginia you can't drive to? 👀 📍False Cape State Park is the southernmost Virginia State Park and one of the last undeveloped stretches of the Atlantic coast. Since there are no public roads into the park, the only ways to get there are by hiking, biking, paddling, or taking the Blue Goose Tram Tour—which is exactly what I did. The tram departs from Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge (April–October) and takes you into the heart of the park. You'll learn about the area's history, stop for an easy 1-mile hike to the historic Wash Woods church site and cemetery, and have time to explore the Visitor Center before heading back. If you're planning a Virginia Beach trip, I highly recommend the tram tour. Tickets are $8 per person (plus a $5 per vehicle entrance fee to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge), and reservations are required through the Virginia State Parks website. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes. If you're looking for a quieter, more adventurous side of Virginia Beach, False Cape State Park is well worth adding to your itinerary.
