China Snow Town (雪乡 / Xuexiang) is a small village in Heilongjiang’s Shuangfeng Forest Farm, about 280 km from Harbin, famous for the thick “mushroom snow” that piles up on rooftops every winter. The town usually opens mid-November through March, with the deepest snow from December to February. How to get there: Most people travel from Harbin. • Bus: ~5–6 hours • High-speed train to Yabuli then car transfer or bus • Private driver or tour is the easiest option. Cost: • Entrance: about 95–140 RMB ($13–20) • Optional shuttle: ~30 RMB • “Dream Home” photo area (iconic snow mushroom houses): ~120–198 RMB Where to stay: • Some visitors stay 1 night in a local guesthouse or heated “kang” bed homestay in the village so you can see the lanterns at night and sunrise snow scenes. Prices vary widely but winter stays often exceed 1,000 RMB ($140+) per night due to demand • Others come in for a few hours or as part of a day trip
