Set along the Colorado River in eastern Utah, Moab began as a small 19th century ranching and trading outpost and has grown into a quintessential Southwest adventure base. The surrounding terrain is classic red rock country. Sandstone layers laid down over millions of years have been carved into arches, fins, mesas, and deep canyons. Tucked between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, the town offers direct access to slickrock bike trails, climbing routes, desert backroads, and stretches of the Colorado River, with the snow-capped La Sal Mountains on the horizon. The town itself has a laid-back vibe with cafés, gear shops, small galleries, and casual restaurants.
