Limestone sea stacks are a common site throughout Mackinac Island (think Arch Rock, Sugar Loaf, etc), but you don’t need to take a ferry to visit this hidden gem in St Ignace! 🐇This is Rabbit Back Peak in St Ignace. ⛰️This stack rises 115 feet above Lake Huron and is surrounded by Lake Huron, cedars, and varieties of evergreen trees. This promontory appears to look like the back of a crouching rabbit when viewed from Mackinac Island. 🌲The views from the top of the summit are incredible! From here you can see: 🌁The Mackinac Bridge 🏰Castle Rock 🐴Mackinac Island 📍St Ignace 🏝️Other islands - like the St Martin Islands (anyone ever visit here and I don’t mean the Caribbean St Maarten) 🦋And, during our visit, we had butterflies fly around us & saw eagles flying as high as where we stood, which delighted my son! 👦🏽 And yes, my 4 year old came with me too! I know having a climb up to an unprotected natural peak using a rope might seem daunting for many, but it’s all about knowing what your child is capable of doing. This is all at your own risk so just be smart and careful. 🪨Other sea stacks to visit and marvel at within St Ignace include: -Castle Rock - a popular attraction with stairs to help climb up to the top with a fenced in overlook. A small admission fee is charged to climb to the top. -St Anthony’s rock - located in downtown St Ignace, it’s directly behind a block of touristy businesses downtown (like Zac & Mac’s) with a parking lot around it. It’s fenced in to protect it from vandals. ‼️Please remember to be respectful if you visit. Leave no trace, do no damage and keep this stunning scenic view available for all to enjoy the view!
