The Perfect Weekend Itinerary for Rhode Island Wanting to explore an underrated destination right in our backyard? Rhode Island is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. There’s something for everyone: an incredible food scene, history & architecture, world-class art, and beaches. I visited Providence and Newport and feel like I’m due for a return trip to check out everything I didn’t get to see the first time around. Evening of Day 1 🏨 Check into your hotel (we stayed at the @aloftprovidencedowntown and loved it). 🍛 Dinner at @odinisrestaurant - delicious family-style Portuguese cooking. 🍸Post-dinner drinks at @bluvioletroofbar (they also do live DJ brunches on Sundays) Day 2 ☕️ Start the morning with breakfast at @sydneypvd. The breakfast croissant was to die for! 🖼️ Take in the world-class art at @risdmuseum. The museum was bigger than I expected and I wish I had more time, so I would allot at least 2 hours here. Admission is free on Sundays from 10am - 5pm and Thursday evenings from 5 - 8pm! 🦞 Then take a food tour with @riredfoodtours. This was one of my favorite activities during our trip. Our guide, Michelle, was an absolute delight and each of the stops had delicious food 😋 😴 Break for a quick nap. 🏞️ Then head back out to enjoy one of Providence’s green spaces - I recommend taking the time to walk around Brown’s campus. 🍹For a late dinner, head to @trooppvd, a woman-owned restaurant with a funky 90s-themed. Day 3 🫖 Get an early start to your day at @theblackleaftea - a Black woman-owned tea shop. ⛵️Then drive or take an Uber down to the island of Newport. We visited the Rosecliff Mansion specifically for its Gilded Age in Color exhibit, which centers on the stories of Black families living in Newport during the Gilded Age. 🥙 Grab lunch in Newport. ✈️ Then drive back to Providence, grab your bags, and head to the airport. What do you think of this itinerary? Is Rhode Island now on your travel list?
