This is one of my all time favorite sunset spots in Shenandoah National Park and the hike to it is short but oh-so-sweet! (Look at those views 😍)!! 📍Bearfence Mountain Trail 🥾Distance: a short 1 mile loop with an option to combine it with a further hike on the AT. ⛰ There’s a fun little rock scramble at the top that scares a lot of people away, but makes for a more secluded summit and utterly peaceful sunset experience (had it all to ourselves 🤩)!! 🌄 There are gorgeous, panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the top and it was definitely my favorite sunset spot in the park! 🐻 Bear are known to be seen relatively often in this area so come prepared and know how to properly react should an encounter occur. However, we did not see any. ——— ⛔️ As always, remember to practice ALL the leave no trace principles! This includes (but not limited to): packing out ALL trash; NEVER carving into any rocks or trees, etc; following all signage and restrictions (such as fire bans, etc)!! Help leave these beautiful trails better than you found it!
