If there’s a place in Cabo Frio that’s hip and happening right now, it’s definitely Bairro da Passagem. Bairro Passagem is a historic neighborhood in the city of Cabo Frio. It was the first urban center, started in 1616, by the Portuguese Estevão de Gomes. It still maintains the aura of the city's founding, almost 400 years ago, with narrow, cobblestone streets, small squares, the São Benedito church and fishermen's boats in the harbour. Besides the historic character, you’ll find charming inns, cozy restaurants and bars with live music.
