Georgetown has a deeply rooted Chinese community, and there is evidence of their language and culture almost everywhere you go. From the food, to the language, and historical buildings. An important symbol of this community is this temple dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy. Built in the mid-1700s it is a significant place of worship and still hosts many visitors to this day. It is a vibrant and beautiful temple in the heart of the historical district. You can easily spend quite some time here admiring the architecture and stalls selling offerings, as well as take in the joyful atmosphere as you watch visitors come to worship, rest, and socialize.
