Battle of the Scheldt from Amsterdam

Your guide takes you on a road trip to Zeeland, a part of The Netherlands consisting of islands and peninsula's. Zeeland saw heavy fighting in 1944. Zeeland Flanders, South-Beveland and Walcheren had to be taken by the Allies to be able to use the Port of Antwerp. It took a lot of ingenuity and hard fighting to overcome the strong German defenses here. We also pay a visit to the new Liberation Museum Zeeland. Besides some interesting military historic sites you will see a lot of the typical Zeeland countryside. Hardly recovered from the World War 2 damage and loss of life Zeeland was hit again in February 1953 by a big flood. We will return over some of the Delta Works.
