Walking Tour of Exmouth in East Devon

On one side of Exmouth Beach, the red sandstone cliffs ascend to Orcombe Point, the official start of the Jurassic Coast – the only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in England. On the other side, the vibrant Exe Estuary sits teeming with birdlife, a fairly flat cycle path connecting Exmouth with the quaint village of Lympstone, the historic port of Topsham and leading all the way up to Exeter. In the middle are countless stories of swashbuckling local pirates, smugglers offloading illicit contraband into East Devon, famous residents who found inspiration and solace in the beautiful ocean scenery and a bustling tourism industry, which was the first of its kind in the county and still prospers today. Flying above the Jurassic Coastline in a motorglider is a truly unique experience. Our aircraft it is both very quiet and comfortable and offers unrivalled visibility making it perfect for taking aerial photographs of all the attractions along the beautiful South Coast Motorgliders by there nature are extremely safe aircraft to fly in as with their long wings they can glide very efficiently without the engine running. Your 1 hour trip will give you ample opportunity to see the cliffs and beaches along the coast as well as the chance to handle the controls and fly the motorglider if you wish. As your pilot is a fully qualified flying Instructor you will be able to receive some tuition on handling the controls of the aircraft and possibly flying us back to the airfield yourself.

World War II Heritage Tour

"Probably the most militarised county in WWII", some 1.5 million GI's were stationed in the county of Devon. The north and south coasts of Devon were used extensively to both house the GI's and enable them to practice amphibious landings before the Normandy landings. This includes the notorious Slapton sands, one of the US military's darkest secrets of WWII. Focussing on the south coast, in addition to Slapton we'll visit Plymouth, where some 36,000 GI's departed. Plymouth is said to be the most bombed city in WWII (per sq mile) more than London and Coventry and is still the largest naval dockyard in Western Europe. Down the coast the picturesque coastal town of Dartmouth is home to two stunningly preserved castles at the mouth of the River Dart as well as Britannia Naval College, home to US naval command and where Queen Elizabeth first set eyes on the Duke of Edinburgh. Finally Brixham, now Englands' biggest fishing port with some of the best preserved naval gun batteries of WWII.
