A Bocas Mangrove Kayak & Reef Snorkel Eco Tour

Join me, biologist ecotour guide @stacebird, on a late afternoon paddle out of Isla ColĂłn's Saigon Bay. We'll explore various tropical ecosystems & learn their vital importance to heathy oceans & our planet's future. We'll have opportunities to see sloths, an array of tropical birds, perhaps even monkeys. We'll paddle out of Saigon Bay for a snorkeling adventure. We will go slow, taking in the rich complexity of the coral reef as I point out & identify marine species & fascinating reef life behavior. We'll "hop" back into the kayaks; upper body strength is necessary for the this part of the excursion. If guests choose to forego snorkeling, we still can still see the beauty of the reef as we glide over it on our kayaks. We'll paddle onward through peaceful bays canals while learning about the vital importance of mangrove ecosystems while keeping an eye out for wildlife.

Giant Sea Turtle Conservation Tour in Bocas del Toro

Being able to observe the leatherback turtles, the largest of all turtles is a truly memorable experience. It is as large as a human being, reaching a length of 5.6 feet (approx. 1.7 meters). This turtle is the heaviest non-crocodilian reptile in existence, reaching a weight of 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds)! Adult specimens measure between 4.5 and over 6 feet (1.4 to 1.8 meters) in length. Your guide will measure every turtle that comes ashore and maybe you can break that record! The nocturnal turtle tour allows you to observe the turtles as they lay their eggs. Since this is a scientific observation activity, protocols must be followed to ensure the well-being of the turtles, as they are an endangered species. Your guide will provide further information about these fascinating creatures as you walk along one of the most beautiful beaches in Bocas del Toro.
