Caption: With only about 200 inhabitants, Beilstein can best be described as a mini-town. The picturesque center is full of half-timbered houses huddled together in winding narrow streets. You really go back in time here, because the romantic view that time has stood still here is absolutely correct.

Caption: The Klostertreppe lives up to its name, because the staircase with 108 steps leads directly to the monastery church of St. Josef. Even with rainy weather it is picturesquely beautiful here. The historic buildings to your left and right make it worth to climb to the top. Once you’re there, we recommend you to go to the Klosterrestaurant & Cafe.

We were here on a rainy and cloudy day in winter, but you’re supposed to have a magnificent view here in spring and summer.

Caption: There are many different restaurants in Beilstein. What is special about some places is that they blend perfectly into Beilstein's historic townscape. The most restaurants and hotels are to be found in the Bachstraße. One is Zum Felsenkeller. The restaurant owners have made use of the characteristics of Beilstein, such as this historic gate which can also be seen on the inside. They really managed to create a cozy and charming old village tavern inside.

Caption: Burg-Metternich is a castle in Beilstein. Its pentagonal keep dates from the 12th century. From the tower you have a beautiful view of the Moselle, the vineyards, Beilstein and Ellenz-Poltersdorf, which is located opposite the castle. From the ruin you can also see Cochem.
