Akrotiri
Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan Bronze Age settlement on the Greek island of Santorini, is often referred to as the "Pompeii of the Aegean" due to its well-preserved ruins.
Buried by volcanic ash around 1600 BCE from a catastrophic eruption, the site offers a glimpse into advanced urban life with multi-storied buildings, vibrant frescoes, and intricate pottery. Excavations have revealed sophisticated infrastructure, including drainage systems and paved streets, indicating a highly developed civilization.

A charming little ruin that doesn't have much to offer, but is still worth a visit. This is because of the magnificent view, both by day and by night. Especially at sunset, of course, but you will encounter very large crowds of visitors here. But it's worth it for the view.

The path up along the edge to the church alone is worth it for the fantastic view of the little houses and the sea. The church itself is quite nice, but you should definitely follow the signs and look at the dome and the sea from above. This is best done early in the morning or when there are no/few cruise ships off the island. Otherwise it is very crowded up there.
