Everyone goes to Kuta, Lombok for their surf trip, but quieter,
Less crowded Selong Belanak is a surfer’s dream. Low key spot with a few different wave options, depending on your level. I’ve fallen in love with this part of Lombok and have composed a list of all the spots you must go.
Luana Lombok | Surf Boutique Hotel in Selong Belanak
Hands down my favorite place to stay in all of Lombok. Brand new spot with absolutely gorgeous design. The garden is huge with a refreshing, clean pool in the middle. The rooms are so aesthetically pleasing and feel so clean. The staff goes above and beyond to help you during your stay and the location is great! I promise you will love this spot.

BookKlub Kembali
A fun spot to go when you’re looking for something to do after surfing all day. The food is great, and the vibe is really fun! They have a bunch of games you can play and couches to hang out on. Something fun to do away from the sun!

My favorite place to come for morning coffee! It’s such a beautiful atmosphere and the coffee is amazing! They have a bunch of different coffees to choose from. I always go upstairs to drink my coffee while looking at the beautiful view.
See MoreSelong Belanak Beach
A beautiful huge beach with a bunch of local warungs (restaurants) on the beach. Sometimes you can see water buffalo walking on the beach here. This is also a great wave for beginner surfers! You can rent a board directly on the beach.
See MoreSegara Lombok bar & restaurant
A really beautiful place right on the beach. You can stay here as well, but I prefer Luana for accommodation. Although, I love to come here for food, surfing right out the front, and work days! The WiFi is strong and they have adorable little huts on the beach with comfy seating, so you can drink coffee, watch the surfers, and get work done, all while you’re toes are in the sand and you’re listening to the sound of the ocean.

Adorable new spot with a really delicious menu. I love to come here for a work day and get lunch/a coffee. The atmosphere is absolutely stunning, making it easy to stay there and get stuff done. Their tofu salad is out of this world. I highly recommend, as it can be really difficult to find delicious healthy options in Lombok. It’s directly across from Segara/Serangan, so I like to come here after a surf across the street.

BookMawi Beach
Really beautiful beach with great waves. A right and a left, but this wave is not suitable for beginners. This wave is working in dry season, and is likely the wrong wind direction during rainy season. It’s definitely an adventure to get down the road to the beach, but I can promise you you’ll want to stop and take photos along the way. It’s tricky but so stunning and worth it once you make it to the beach. There are a couple little warungs with a very limited menu and some snacks/drinks.

The best local food at Selong Belanak. Really great chill beach vibes, delicious food and you can book your surf guiding/coaching here. The owner, Jack, is the man you wanna surf with in Selong Belanak. He is a phenomenal surfer and will determine which spot is best for you, based on your level. He will arrange a boat to go surf and take you to get the best waves. His fun and friendly energy makes it really enjoyable to surf with him. Also plenty of cold beers and my favorite sunset spot!

BookPantai Serangan
The wave out the front is called Serangan. It’s an intermediate to advanced wave, attracting the most swell. It’s a right hander that can get pretty shallow at low tide. Working best during rainy season.

If you’re a hiker, I highly recommend checking out Rinjani and getting some views of this gorgeous island from a higher altitude.
