Banff Upper Hot Springs
Banff Upper Hot Springs is an all-natural, mineral-rich outdoor soaking pool. The bathhouse has been treating visitors to a relaxing visit since 1886 and is a federal heritage building. Parking is limited, but buses run from town to the springs about every 20 minutes.

Take the Banff Gondola to the top of the Sulphur Mountain. See the six mountain ranges, the town of Banff, and Bow Valley from above. At the top end of the gondola on the summit, there is a boardwalk that will lead you along the mountain to the Cosmic Ray Ranger station. There is also a visitors’ center with restaurants, a coffee shop, and a grab-and-go station.

The Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station was built in 1957 and was used as a research station to study cosmic rays. It was operational and used till 1972 and was designated as a historical site in 1982.

Before heading back down the mountain stop and grab a bite to eat from the Sky Bistro. Make sure to secure a table via a reservation if possible. If you show up without one don’t panic. The bistro will make sure that visitors don’t wait too long and that you are kept up to date on the timing of your table. Try their duck wings, chowder, or gnocchi and pair it with a wine on their extensive wine list.
