A quaint restaurant with a small terrace facing a view of the river. Be mindful there might be a queue, however, you can sit/lean along the edge of the wall and order a glass of wine as you wait for a table. I highly recommend ordering the cod—it is delightful!

This is a dog friendly brunch spot in Porto—so bring your furry friends along! They do not take reservations, however, the wait is worth it!

Igreja do Carmo
Walk off your brunch by going to see Porto’s beautiful mosaic tiles, azulejos, at Igreja do Carmo. This to me is one of the most beautiful churches in all of Porto! We marveled at the azulejos from the outside as we were traveling with our dog, Remy. However, entrance to Igreja do Carmo is free!

This is a stunning church characterized by azulejos. Be mindful this is a difficult place to take a photo as it is located near a busy street.

Livraria Lello
Take a short walk from the church and head over the most spectacular library you will ever see in your entire life. This library is said to have been the inspiration of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter. You have to purchase a ticket voucher to enter the library and upon arrival, you must wait patiently in the queue.

Matosinhos Beach
Take a quick trip to Matosinhos, a major port town known for their beautiful beaches and freshly caught seafood! You can take the Line 500 bus, a hop-on-hop off bus, or the metro to arrive in Matosinhos. I recommend taking the bus (and sitting on the left side) as it travels along the coastline of Porto and the views are incredible—be sure to keep an eye out for how large the waves can get! For my dog owners, the public buses allow only small dogs traveling in a carrier to ride on the bus, the hop-on-hop off buses do not allow dogs of any kind, and the metro allows dogs that wear a muzzle and remain on a lead.

Douro Valley Day Trip: 2 Wineries, Private Boat & Authentic Lunch
Take a day trip to the beautiful Douro Valley for a day full of good wine, food, and a cruise along the famous Douro River. A professional guide with accompany you to two local wineries in the Douro Valley and a regional lunch. This day trip also includes a river cruise down the Douro River which was my personal favorite! The trip to the Douro Valley is about an hour drive outside the city, but the experience is 100% worth it!

A tiny cozy restaurant with only a few tables located inside--definitely make a reservation! The wine bottles are stored in the ceiling of the restaurant giving it a cozy feel. Dogs are not allowed.
