RISD Museum
Take in the world-class art at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. It was bigger than I expected, so I wish I'd had more time. Make sure you allot at least two hours for this museum. Admission is free on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursdays from 5-8 p.m.

Rhode Island Red Food Tours
Afterward, take a food tour with Red Food Tours. This was one of my favorite activities during our trip! Our guide, Michelle, was an absolute delight and each of the stops had delicious food. (Note: Even though the tour company is in Newport, we did the food tour in Providence and met up with them there.)

After a quick post-food tour nap, get out and enjoy one of Providence's green spaces. I recommend walking around Brown's campus.

Drive or take an Uber down to the island of Newport after breakfast. We visited the Rosecliff mansion specifically for its Gilded Age in Color exhibit, which centers on the stories of Black families living in Newport during the Gilded Age.

Scratch Kitchen & Catering
Stay in Newport for lunch. Scratch is owned by Newport locals—a brother-sister team—and serves soups and sandwiches that are...made from scratch! The soup rotates daily, and the sandwich menu is long. Time to drive back to Providence and check out of the hotel after a fun-filled weekend. I already feel like I need to go back to see everything else I missed!
