Now considered the world’s oldest, unaltered rural jazz dance hall, the Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall was built in 1895, and music continues to play here today. In its early years, the Dew Drop Social and Benevolent Association was founded here to provide food and temporary housing for the needy, care for the sick, as well as more services for the African American community in Mandeville. Dedicated to Professor Longhair’s song "Tipitina," this music club opened in 1977.
