Now considered the world’s oldest, unaltered rural jazz dance hall, the Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall was built in 1895, and music continues to play here today. In its early years, the Dew Drop Social and Benevolent Association was founded here to provide food and temporary housing for the needy, care for the sick, as well as more services for the African American community in Mandeville. Allan Jaffe, an employee who eventually became the owner of Preservation Hall, realized that in order for the hall to remain in business, they needed bands to tour...and thus, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band was born! 🎷🎶

Since then, Tipitina’s has been supporting local musicians, from hosting shows to assisting artists after Hurricane Katrina. From the end of May to the end of August, Tipitina’s offers free Fridays, where you can catch a concert for free!
