While Palm Springs is the most popular destination to stay at for Stagecoach, I’ve done Joshua Tree previously and think it’s highly underrated! It’s a bit of a drive but you get to skip all the festival traffic + it’s great for large groups. Here’s some of my favs!
Joshua Tree Coffee Company
I stopped here Friday morning before first hitting Stagecoach, and it was so good we returned every morning until Monday (and picked up a bag to take home!) I recommend the Vanilla Latte but you can’t go wrong.

If you’re not a big hiker, Cholla Cactus Garden is for you! It’s a short mile long flat trail through, you guessed it, a cactus garden. Ideal for sunset but would also be an easy pit stop on the way to the festival. Just watch where you step!

Had to add Stagecoach of course! I definitely reccomend arriving early your first day to have enough time to check out all the activations. Guy Fieri’s restraunt tent was one of my favorites, the best bbq you could ask for in California. And if you need a drink, the barn is the best place to stop by (be prepared to get roped into line dancing though!)

If you have a rest moment on Saturday or Sunday morning, I highly recommend swinging by the national park! You can drive in to all of the spots and park right next to the rocks. This one is one of my favorites, easy to climb and provides such great views. I’d try to stop by in the morning as evenings can be quite chilly.

This is the THE quintessential place to stop by in Joshua Tree. Half restaurant, half western saloon dive bar, it’s truly an experience. And on weekends they have karaoke! It’s also right next to the cutest gift shop + visitors center.

Need a late night spot after dancing in the desert all night? Pie for the People is your spot! The best pizza in Joshua Tree + a thoughtfully created wine menu makes them the best place to debrief the day with friends and satisfy the late night cravings.

Crossroads became another daily stop for my Stagecoach group! Their breakfast is phenomenal, and the biscuits and gravy might have been my favorite meal of the entire weekend. It’s also on a strip with a ton of thrift stores and local boutiques just in case you need a last minute festival fit.

My biggest rec for Joshua Tree is to find a cool airbnb to split with a group, but AutoCamp is a close second! They set up glamping for you and thoughtfully curate group spaces to hangout in, plus a pool you will be thanking yourself for once the heat hits!
