Stopped by Betty Rae’s Ice Cream while exploring the River Market district, and it was such a treat for the whole family. Definitely recommend trying the brown butter and toasted pecans! It’s the perfect little stop for a sweet break while wandering around KC.

This is a hidden gem! We had no idea this steamboat even existed until we visited! We really enjoyed exploring the museum and were amazed by all the interesting facts and incredible collections they’ve preserved from the 1800s. It’s one of those places that makes history come alive in a really fun and unexpected way for the whole family.

Fun, hands-on place for kids! Perfect for a creative morning or afternoon. The space is small, so no worries about the kids getting lost, and they can easily spend hours exploring all the arts and crafts stations. My boys loved letting their imaginations run wild, and I loved how relaxed and interactive the whole experience was.

National WWI Museum and Memorial
The National WWI Museum is such a powerful and fascinating place to visit with the family. It was so interesting to see the displays both my 8-year-old and I were amazed by the artifacts and immersive exhibits. It’s educational but also very engaging, and we left with a whole new appreciation for the events and people of that time. Definitely a must visit when in Kansas City.

This is a fun restaurant for the kids, and I love that it’s right inside the mall. My little ones were so excited to order their food by phone and watch the train deliver it straight to our table. I read it has been a beloved staple of the KC dining scene since 1963. Has a warm, classic ambiance with family-friendly charm. Vintage Italian Restaurant vibes. The food were amazing and staff went above and beyond. 10/10!

Pioneer Trails Adventures
Fun way to step back in time with the kids. Riding in the covered wagon while hearing stories about Jesse James and Harry Truman kept them hooked, and I loved seeing history come alive right in front of us. It’s a small, family-run business that’s been around for over 20 years, and Ralph, who gave us the tour, was amazing (he even has a book called Mule Dynasty!).

Hidden gem for families seeking a fun and educational outing. My kids were captivated by the live animal displays, including bald eagles, and turtles, while I appreciated the peaceful trails and shaded picnic areas. Free admission. Perfect spot for a nature-filled day.
