North Carolina beaches are beautiful with lots to do! I've been coming to CB for nearly two decades.
Britts Donuts
Think of the best donut you've ever had - now throw it out the window because Britt's is going to take the top spot. Historic Britts Donuts is a MUST when visiting CB. It is a cash-only establishment and the hours vary depending on the season. Check before you go. WARNING: addicting.
See MoreMalama Cafe
When I think of the top five best meals of my life, Malama Cafe's protein smoothie bowl ranks high! They also have daily specials that I highly recommend and think are better than their regular menu. This place uses fresh, local, and organic ingredients - which we know is music to my ears.
See MoreThe Veggie Wagon
Local spot with everything from fresh local produce, smoothies, desserts to wine slushies and ideal beach snacks.
See MoreCarolina Beach Inn
A cutesy Inn in the middle of all the action of Carolina Beach. The rooms are quaint and small and perfect for a couples trip. There are also a ton of Airbnb's in the area for rent. I would opt for a cute rental as opposed to a hotel in this area.

Grab your walking shoes and head to Carolina Beach Lake Park. This beautiful lake path is 2 blocks from the ocean and a nice change of scenery for your morning walk.
See MoreIsland Burgers & Bites
If someone is recommending a burger place that is IN A GAS STATION, you already know that food is top-tier! We laughed when our friends suggested this place and then we laughed again after eating here because it's so DAMN good. Just try it, trust me.
See MoreThe Fat Pelican
One of the most iconic and well-known places in all of CB, the good ol' Fat P. This is a unique spot on the island as many movies, music videos, and shows have been shot here.
It is also unique due to how you make your drink selection. There are over 400 drink options in their walk-in cooler where you choose your drink of choice and then check out.
The decor is very maximalist and 90s beach.
See MoreSoul Flavor
Soul Flavor and FULL of flavor. This has an interesting take on beach food packed with flavor. This place does get crowded and it's mostly first come first serve. Come early or be prepared for a little wait.
See MoreSeaWitch Cafe & Tiki Bar
Great spot to catch live music and enjoy a beachy drink! Reserve this for a night out.
See MoreOcean Grill & Tiki Bar
One of our favorite spots when we come to CB. They have indoor seating (must have shoes & shirts), but the outdoor tiki seating is the place to be.
We love the tiki bar because you can come during the day (in a swimsuit) or at night. Both vibes are cool and views are always good. The serve tiki inspired drinks and a great seafood forward menu.
See MoreThe Spot Bar & Kitchen
A local's favorite spot with a great menu!
See MoreThe Sandspur
Fun menu that changes regularly. Cute outdoor seating with cool vibes!
See MoreKure Beach Pier
Fun nostalgic beach outing. They also have ice cream. I recommend only going during the day!
See MoreKure Beach Yoga
There is no better way to wake up and ground than with a zen yoga class on the beach. I highly recommend doing sunrise yoga!
See MoreFreeman Park Beach
Calling all off-road lovers! Freeman Park is unqiue because you can take your 4X4 vehicles out on the beach There are no bathrooms out here so plan accordingly. You will need to purchase a day pass at their office before heading out and air down your tires.
See MoreSquigley's Ice Cream & Treats
What's a beach trip without an ice cream stop?
This place has been around since I was born (nearly 30 years) and it's long standing history stays true to the iconic CB culture. Be careful because you will want to get this every single night.
See MoreFort Fisher Ferry
The truly scenic way to head to Southport, NC. (You can also drive, but it's longer). It costs $7 per car (as of August 2024). Check the ferry times on the NCDOT website because they often change, Arrive 30-45 minutes prior to departure as it can get crowded. Take the ferry to Southport or Bald Head Island.
See MoreThe Inn at Southport
This is on my list for a romantic weekend away! I have never officially stayed here, but want to. It's centrally located in beautiful Southport and an authentic way to experience the beauty of this low-key beach town.
