Fairmont Orchid

So this trip is an amalgamation of great places to stay and things to do. The island is big (yeah, no shit lol), so if you rent a car, it would be worth the hassle. Also, to do a full day tour on bus is a way to see the island and frankly it is nice if you have limited days. Anyhow, the Fairmont Orchid is top shelf on the west (dry) side of the island. Turtles on the beach usually and lots of champy awaiting you.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

A really excellent option for your stay.

The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort

We greatly enjoyed this Westin and would highly recommend for amid budget trip.

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection

Another excellent option to stay on your Big Island adventure.

Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay)

This island does not have a lot of sandy beach access outside of the black sands on the south side. This beach was super nice and inviting.

Punaluu Black Sand Beach

Black sand and Turtles, a must.

Kulaniapia Falls

Hike into the falls for great tree canopies and a beautiful falls.

Rainbow Falls

Easy access and very picturesque.

Thurston Lava Tube

A fun jaunt into a true lava tube. The history of the tube's and this island is fascinating.

Hapuna Beach

Another great beach. If you have the inkling to rent surf fishing gear, this is a great place.

Kona Coffee Living History Farm

Learn the history of Kona coffee on this tour and get to know one of the great exports of the island. Make sure to take a bag home.

Kehena Black Sand Beach

Another black sand beach not to be missed.

Kīlauea Crater

Active volcanoes, yes!! Look down inside the crater from the visitor center. At night you will witness the glow of the lava.

Again, visit and tout the volcanoes, it is a must.

Get a drink, get a meal and relax.

This restaurant was excellent, but the best part is at night, head down to the lights at the waters edge and watch the Manta Rays come in and feed. Super cool!

More of a budget conscious option with character and location.

Merriman's Big Island

This might be your best meal on the island. A beautiful drive up into the farmlands of the island that separate the dry side from the wet side of the Island.

Incredible scenic walks at the hotel and surrounding golf courses.

Kona Manta Ray Snorkel Tours

So we did not do this tour but witnessed people who did and they said it was epic!!
