Paludan Bog & Café
Before we left the city, we had breakfast at this cozy spot. Bookshelves and generous café dishes give Paludan a welcoming, lived-in feel. Its setting in Copenhagen’s university quarter makes it especially fitting for a coffee break with something to read. This place was surprisingly large. It seemed to attract a lot of studying students and locals in general, and the food was really good!

Next, we got away from the touristy spots in Copenhagen and went on a day trip! We left from this station and went to Humlebæk and then on to Helsingør for the day.
One of Copenhagen’s main transport interchanges, Nørreport sits at the meeting point of the historic center and the neighborhoods beyond. Above ground, busy bicycle parking captures the rhythm of everyday city life.

First, we refueled at Patio in the historic heart of Helsingør. Tucked away in an intimate courtyard, it's the perfect place to enjoy classic Danish dishes. They're also well known for their sourdough!
See MoreKronborg Castle
The home of "Hamlet"! Kronborg is a popular destination, but it's less busy in the fall. The 16th-century Renaissance castle is, of course, famous as being the setting of Shakespeare's play. We enjoyed exploring for a couple hours before returning to Copenhagen.

Book NowMeatpacking District, Copenhagen
Known locally as Kødbyen, this former industrial district mixes meat-trade heritage with restaurants, galleries, and nightlife. Low-rise functionalist buildings give it a very different feel from Copenhagen’s older center. We experienced some outstanding restaurans in this neighborhood including Gorilla and Jah Izakaya & Sake Bar.

Gorilla brings lively, informal dining to the Meatpacking District’s industrial surroundings. A varied menu and energetic dining room make it a natural centerpiece for an evening in Kødbyen. Highly recommend the Rigatoni, grilled mackerel and grilled pork on a skewer.

Visible brewing tanks make beer production part of the setting at ÅBEN’s Kødbyen venue. The space combines working-brewery character with the district’s contemporary bar scene. A great spot to sit in the sun amongst the locals!
